川岸 滋 Shigeru Kawagishi - カメラマン Photographer

Started working as a freelance photographer in 2000.

I shoot cooking, interviews, websites, profile photos, family photos, etc.

I studied photography when I was a student and trained at a photo studio for 10 years.

After that, I lived in New Zealand for a year and started working as a freelance photographer after returning to Japan.

I enjoy meeting and talking with various people through photography.

My First Encounter with a Camera

I became interested in photography as a child when my parents handed me a camera and I started taking pictures of my family. Looking through the viewfinder and pressing the shutter was a very enjoyable moment for me as a child.

When I was in junior high school, my parents gave me a Canon AE-1P camera. After that, I started taking pictures of professional wrestling, which I loved. In particular, the pro-wrestler "Mil Mascaras," whom I photographed myself, ignited my passion for photography.

One day, at an event called Pro Wrestling Fan Appreciation Day, I had the opportunity to get close to a superstar I had only seen on a TV screen. I was so engrossed in the moment that I snapped the shutter.

One of the photos that captured that moment is deeply etched in my mind.

Even now, whenever I look at that photo, I am amazed once again at the power of photography, as it brings back vividly the emotion, joy, and happiness I felt at that time.

I cherish this feeling and continue to take photographs while truly appreciating the magnificence that photography has to offer.
